Obituary of Hilda Mae Martin

Hilda Mae Martin, 93 years old, passed away July, 19, 2021. Born Dec. 19, 1927 to Otto Charles Kauffman and Vivian Mae Wooldridge Kauffman in Green Bay, VA. Hilda graduated valedictorian from Green Bay High School and attended Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University). She was employed by the National Service Life Insurance division at McGuire VA hospital, Richmond, VA., and later transferred to the Spinal Cord Injury section of the hospital as medical secretary. In 1953, she married William A. Martin, Jr. in Green Bay, VA and they made their home in Bradenton, FL. Hilda was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, making quilts and the like. She was multi-talented. A long-time member of Samoset 1st Baptist Church she served as Sunday School teacher, adult choir director, children’s choirs, Teamkids, VBS, WMU, and on many committees. A much loved, well respected and devoted Christian. Hilda was known for her quick wit, contagious smile and laughter, faithfulness, and dependability. She is predeceased by Son - David Michael Martin, Spouse - William A. Martin, Jr., and Son -Mark W. Martin. She is survived by Grandson - Jared T. Burns-Martin. Interment at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, FL.
