Obituary of Mark V Guss

Mark. V. Guss, age 70, passed away September 5, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kass Guss of Bradenton, FL; children Jessica Guss of Denver, Colorado and Maxwell Guss of Sarasota, FL. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mark moved to Denver early on. It's here that he and Kass met, were married, and began their family. Then came a move to Tampa, where he worked as a photojournalist for The Tampa Tribune for over 20 years before retirement in 2006. After retirement he devoted time to helping children as a Guardian Ad Litem and several reading programs in Manatee County. The children loved it when he would read to them in his big, booming voice, and wouldn't let him go without a high-five. His love for animals also led him and Kass to volunteer with several shelters in town, fostering various litters of puppies and kittens. Mark was a self taught musician, computer whiz, card player, news junkie and cook extraordinaire. He was also a proponent of dessert before dinner, when he could get it. Mark was a wonderful husband and father, and a loyal friend. His kind heart and gentle soul will be deeply missed. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
