Obituary of Barbara Dulin Polis

Barbara Dulin Polis March 13, 1937 - December 27, 2021 Barbara Dulin Polis, 84, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 27, 2021. Born in Culpeper, Virginia to LB and Nellie Mae Dulin. As a twin to Peggy Dulin Crews (1937-2010), the two grew up in tandem, as constant best friends with never-ending stories to tell. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles T. Polis, Jr. , with whom she cherished their children and grandchildren dearly. She is also survived by her son Chuck (Debbie) of Bradenton, daughter Laurie (Roger) of Bradenton, daughter Sherrie (Chris) of Lutz, grandchildren Sarah (26), Caroline (23), Chaz (20), Amber (17), and Aubrey (10). Barbara graduated from Culpepper High School and Westhampton (now University of Richmond) where she lettered in four sports for four years. Barbara was an active tennis player for her entire life and found joy in the friendships she created on and off the courts. As an avid sports player, Barbara taught high school physical education in her early career. Barb had a love for serving others and never met a stranger. She was actively involved in her children’s school years as a Brownie leader, parent sponsor for Reinaunce Club, and passionate team coach. She was a past President of Entre Nous Club, and continued to be a life member following active membership. Barbara was a member of the Service Club of Manatee County and also served as a volunteer at Blake Hospital. Anyone who knew Barbara loved her for her crazy spirit, loving nature, and steadfast friendship. Her family knew her as “Badass Barb”, and she shared that namesake proudly with everyone she met. Family was the center of her world and we are comforted by the strong bond she nurtured between us. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to University of Richmond (class of 59) or Entre Nous Club of Manatee.
