Obituary of J.R. Hartley

J.R. Hartley of Bradenton, Florida, passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, 27 January, 2022. J.R. was born in Dublin, Georgia and moved to Florida in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. After he met and married the love of his life in Valparaiso, Florida; they settled in Bradenton. J.R. worked as a Commercial Truck Driver, warehouse manager for Southwestern Suppliers, Deputy for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Department and Tropicana Products. He enjoyed fishing, reading, traveling, wood working, but his greatest joy was being surrounded by family. J.R. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne (Madison) Hartley, daughters Julie Smith, Karen Golombeski (Ed), June Moore (Ray) and Cristi Hartley and son, Wim Lippens (Mieke). His pride and joy were his grandchildren - Caitlin Golombeski, Jessica Smith, Grant Golombeski (Valarie), Connor Hartley, Joshua Smith (Samantha), Jared Smith, Lindsay Horne (Arick), Caeden and Madison Moore, Manon and Maxence Lippins. His great-grandchildren - Cameron Golombeski, Jas Golombeski, Harper Howell, Jameson Woods, Kara Golombeski, Jay Smith, Elias Golombeski, Kendall Smith, Lucas Smith, and Jude Horne loved their “Papa” more than anything, just as he loved them. J.R. is also survived by his sister, Melba Kreps, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Azlee Hartley, his sisters Lillie Belle Beckham-Heitman, Hilda Register, Carolyn Jackson and Betty Turner. J.R. was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Randy Smith and so many loved and cherished family members. J.R., Jake, Daddy, Papa, “We love you more”. Forever.
