Hugh Kennedy, age 98, of Bradenton, Florida passed away April 25, 2022. He was born December 26, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Marie Kennedy. He served in the Army during WWII, seeing action on several Pacific islands. He married Ruth in 1951 and they had two children, Marjorie and Ronald. Most of his career as an electrical engineer was at AC Sparkplug / Delco Electronics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He retired to Florida, first to Vero Beach and then in Bradenton after Ruth passed away. There he met Dottie, whom he married and spent these last 22 years. Upon retiring Hugh took up wood carving figures, especially Santa Clauses, and later the making of whirly-birds, a joy which continued until his death. He gave many of these to family and friends over the years and they now adorn their homes and yards.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth (Solveson) Kennedy, sisters Alice Kennedy, Ruth Mack, and Mary Lois Stroble, and brother Jim Kennedy. He is survived by his current wife Dottie Kennedy, daughter Marjorie (Mike) May, son Ronald (Leslie) Kennedy, brother Laurence Kennedy, grandchildren William, Rebekah, Elizabeth and Erik, and great-granddaughter Isabelle.
Hugh will be interred at the National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida on July 11.
