Obituary of Leona C. Hurst

Leona Catherine Hurst (Doll), 90-years-old, of Wimauma, FL (formerly from Vincennes, IN), was called to her Heavenly home by her Lord and Savior on August 5, 2013. Leona was born on August 17, 1922 in Lawrence County, IL to Fred and Nora Doll. She was from a family of 10 children – eight girls and two boys. All her siblings predeceased her except one sister, Betty, who lives in Springfield, Illinois. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor and was filled with a constant and nurturing love for her husband, family, and friends. Possessing a true servant’s heart and unwavering faith in God, she always had a smile and kind word for all she met, always putting herself after the needs and happiness of others. She is survived by her husband, Warren. Married for 71 years, Leona and Warren raised four children – Linda (Marvin) Austin, Thomas Hurst (deceased), James (Carla, deceased) Hurst and Luanne Hernandez; four grandchildren – Joshua Hurst, Zachary Hurst, Sheryl Hurst and Lyndsay Hernandez; and one great grandson – Michael Olmos. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
