Obituary of Robert Carl Kline

Robert (Bob) Kline died August 7, 2013, in Bradenton at the age of 87. He lived all of his life in Manatee County except for his service years. He served in the U.S. Navy from December 1942 until September 1949. He was aboard the LST 288 and was in the Normandy Invasion on ‘D’ Day. He started with the West Side Fire Department in January 1963 and was their first full-time fireman. He retired in December 1992 as Fire Marshal after 30 years of service. One of their fire trucks was dedicated in his name in 1985. He was a life time member of the Manatee County Arson Task Force and Vice President of The Manatee County Firemen’s Mutual Aid Association. He is survived by his wife Beatrice, two daughters; Stephanie (Robert) Borowicz and Judy Grogg, his four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 10 A.M. with the service following at 11 A.M. at the First Baptist Church Chapel, 1306 Manatee Ave West, Bradenton. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery.
