Obituary of Vester Gillylan

Vester Gillylan was Born December 22, 1932. He left to go home with the Lord on August 24th, 2013 Vester was so loved by many people far and near. Born to Addie and Vozell Gilleylen. Vester had four siblings who preceded him in death, Vozell Gilleylen Jr., Lenice Gilleylen-Buckingham, Bernice Gilleylen-Roscoe, and Clarzell Gilleylen. He was a beloved husband to Elnora and devoted father to Anton Vester (Annette), Anthony (Rhonda), Anna Lemond, Angelia Griffin (William), Abby O’Quinn (Keith), Andrea Ouellette (Michael) and Pamela Miller Gillylan. He was a beloved Grandfather to Angelina Griffin, Irene Griffin-Johnson, Shauna Wilson, Aaron O’Quinn, Jr., Anton Gillylan, III, Cherylyn O’Quinn, Anthony Gillylan, Joel O’Quinn, Andrae Gillylan, Samuel O’Quinn, Gabrielle Gillylan, Spencer O’Quinn, Danielle Gillylan, Christian Ouellette, Michael Ouellette Jr., Elizabeth Ouellette, Tara Gillylan, Abigail Ouellette, Alicia Gillylan, and Antoinette Gillylan. He was a beloved Great Grandfather to 10 Great Grandchildren. He was a beloved Uncle to his sibling’s children: Clarzell, Lora, Faye, Nechole, Starr, Duane, Staci, Umeki and Neicey. Vester graduated from high school in Amory, MS. He then Joined the United States Air Force. After retiring he attended Springfield Technical Community College: Major: Business/Accounting. Vester loved God, Church, and his Country: He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years; he served as Staff Sergeant, working on Aircraft Maintenance, he then assumed a role to serve under former President Richard Nixon as a Special Travel Aide on Air Force One. Vester worked many years at United Technologies, and Pratt & Whitney working on aircraft. Vester also dedicated his life serving as a Trustee at the House of God Church, which later transitioned to The Freedom House of God, where he served under Bishop Elizabeth Williams as a Project Manager working to build a new sanctuary which today is located on 563 Union Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. He spent many years influencing relatives and friends near and far, to take care of their health. He loved his family, church members and friends; he was a road warrior, driving for business and cross country to visit relatives. He and his wife Elnora retired in the State of Florida. Visitation is Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 10-11 am at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton with Military Honors Service to follow at 11 am.
