Obituary of Anne Schaut Whelan

Anne Schaut Whelan, 92, of Bradenton, passed away on February 25, 2014. She was born in Kinston, North Carolina and moved to Bradenton as a child where she graduated from Bradenton High School. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She married David P. Whelan and they relocated to the Boston, Massachusetts area where she raised her family and lived until 1982 when she and David retired and moved back to Bradenton. Anne was active in charitable organizations in Bradenton and served on the Board of Directors at Manatee Children’s Services. She was a supporter of the Salvation Army and was a lifetime member of Entre Nous. She was also a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. She was predeceased by her brother, John W. Schaut in addition to her husband. She is survived by her son, John D. (Stephanie) and her grandchildren, Mark, Emily and Ava; niece, Ann Leonard of Bradenton and nephew, John (Joe) Schaut of Athens, Georgia. A private service will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Manatee Children’s Services, 453 Cortez Road West, Bradenton, Florida 34207.
