Obituary of Nina Mae Skeen

Nina Mae Burson Skeen, 97, formerly of Bradenton, FL and Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully,Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Sarasota FL. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 67 years, the Reverend David W. Skeen, and is survived by her son, David L.Skeen, daughter & son-in-law, Deb & Jim Marqua, all of Sarasota, by grandchildren, Andrea Greenwalt, Loree Skeen, and Alex Marqua, and by great-granddaughters, Loren & Sophia Greenwalt. She also is survived by Mrs. Ruth Skeen of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, along with many nieces & nephews in Ohio and Arizona. She was born & reared in Findlay, Ohio, and graduated Bowling Green College. Married in 1942, she was a homemaker as well as a faithful helpmate to her minister husband. Together they served Ohio pastorates in Wellsville, East Liverpool, Mt. Gilead, Mentor, and several in Columbus including Broad Street United Methodist Church from 1962-1967. She enjoyed writing & directing christian dramas, and upon retiring to FL in 1984, she wrote two books presenting her life & her faith. In recent years, she greatly enjoyed visits from family as well as writing and hearing from her many friends. Memorial & committal services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton FL. Condolence messages may be made at www.griffithcline.com.
