Obituary of Johannes Cornelius Zonneveld Jr.

John Zonneveld was born in Amsterdam, Holland to Martha and Johannes Zonneveld, Sr., on September 21, 1947. He passed away at his home in Sebring, FL on August 16, 2022. John’s family moved from Amsterdam in 1956 to find a better life and to follow their passion for the work of the Lord. Moving to Bradenton, FL they became involved with the Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle and poured their heart into the work. John grew up in Bradenton and graduated from Manatee High School before entering the Army during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Army, he served in Ft. Benning, GA before being deployed to Saigon, Vietnam. John was burned over 30% of his body while in Saigon and was sent back to Ft. Benning to finish his tour of duty after a long recovery period. He was exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam and suffered the effects for many years. John owned and operated a successful HVAC business in Bradenton for most of his life. He was also successful with some real estate properties. His biggest and most loved ability was that of Pastor. He was a Pastor of churches in Wauchula, Jacksonville and a few others throughout most of his adult life. He was the Pastor of Highlands Christian Assembly in Sebring for over 35 years. His love for the Lord and His work was always first in his life. John was preceded in death by his previous wife, Janice Zonneveld, his parents Johannes and Martha Zonneveld, a sister Margaret Jackson and his nephew Billy Jackson. John is survived by his wife, Marcia, brother Hank, children Joleen (Michael) Springer of Sarasota, Kathryn Zonneveld, Joel (Kristyn) Zonneveld, step daughters Nancy (Nathan) Nichols, Jessica (John) Tillmann and Terri (Max) Johnson. Grandchildren Lance May, Brandon May, Joseph Springer, Victoria Springer, Savannah Lyons, Adrianna Lyons, Collin Lyons, Brenden Lyons, Devyn Lyons, Alyssa (Josh) Dalquist, Ethan Zonneveld, Will Nichols, Jack Nichols, Jorja Tillmann, Carson Tillmann, Charlie Tillmann and Genna Tillmann and one great grandchild. Services will be held at Bradenton Gospel Tabernacle, 1218 7th Ave E, Bradenton FL at 11:00 am and graveside service to follow at 2:00 pm at Gillette Cemetery, 8996 Ellenton Gillette Rd, Palmetto FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Highlands Christian Assembly, 7121 Rolling Hills Rd, Sebring FL 33876 or Bay Pines Fisher House, PO Box 5005 (ooFH), Bay Pines, FL 33744 in memory of John Zonneveld, Jr.
