Obituary of Shirley L Beckner

     Shirley was a lifelong resident of Myakka City. Born June 19, 1948.

Shirley passed on to Glory at her home, attended by loved ones and her precious dog Penny on July 12, 2023

A Manatee County School system employee for 50 + years, Shirley lived out the dream she had from a very young age of teaching children. She started her career at Myakka City Elementary as office staff while she attended Manatee Community College. Shirley followed up with a degree from Nova Southeastern University to earn her teaching degree and followed that with 40 + more years at Samoset Elementary where she was beloved by students and coworkers.

Shirley also worked for many years at Albertson's Bakery in Bradenton as a talented cake decorator.

Shirley was wonderfully strong in her faith in God and an active member of Myakka Family Worship Center.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Laura Lang, step daughters Susan Apostol (James), Jeannie Beckner (Doug), Grandsons, Justin Beckner and Joseph Apostle and many family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Bill and Irene Lang,  sister Eloise Roland and grandson Chris Apostol.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday July 23rd at Myakka Family Worship Center 33420 Singletary Rd. Myakka City FL
