Obituary of Johnnie L. Fulghum

     Johnnie L Fulghum, 87, of Palmetto, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at his home.  Born February 4, 1936, in Sale City Georgia, he was one of seven children of the late Charlie and Laura (Carroll) Fulghum.  Johnnie moved to Florida in 1954 and lived the remainder of his life in Manatee County.  Johnnie enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests.  He was an avid softball player in Manatee County until 2007, passing on his love of the game to his daughter, Channon.  He was an amazing farmer and gardener, as there wasn't anything he couldn't grow! He especially enjoyed his quiet time, fishing on his lake on his Georgia property.  He was a supervisor in the block tunnel at Tropicana for 32 years, retiring in 1992 and spend another 10 years, working with Parks and Recreation for the City of Bradenton.  

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of ​55 years, Joyce G. (Alderman)(2019); his brothers, Charlie Jr., and Otis "Lollipop" Fulghum; his sisters, Margaret Davis, Doshia Davis, and Alice Jean Hancock.  

He will be remembered and missed by his family.  His survivors include, his children, Mark (Kace) Fulghum, Tracy Fulghum, and Channon (Scott Vandermolen) Fulghum; his grandchildren, Chad Fulghum, Dixee Vandermolen, Tarra Fulghum, Clayton Fulghum, Jacob Fulghum, and Lucas Fulghum; his great-grandchildren, Isiah and John Wade Fulghum; and his sister, Marie Cookie Hitson.  

Family and friends will gather to grief their loss and honor his life on Thursday, January 25, 2024, with a visitation from 10-11am with services to immediately follow at Griffith Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave., W., Bradenton, FL 34205.  Officiating will be Rev. Roland Davis.  Interment will end our services at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
